If you plan to color your hair, perform a skin allergy test two days (48 hours) before coloring your hair. If a patch test does not show any reactions, you can color your hair immediately.

[What you need]

• If your hair is particularly dirty, if you have applied lots of hairstyling product, or if you have temporary hair dye (such as hair mascara) in your hair, rinse your hair gently and thoroughly to avoid damaging your skin.
• Dry your hair before coloring your hair.
• The instruction leaflet specifies everything you need to color your hair. Get these things ready before coloring your hair.
• Change into clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and put on the hair coloring cape or a towel. Wearing gloves on both hands, fasten them at your wrists with rubber bands to prevent the gloves from slipping. This will prevent the coloring mixture from coming into direct contact with your hands. Place newspaper on the floor to prevent the coloring mixture from getting on the floor.
• Apply an oil-based cream (such as a cold cream) to your ears and hairline so that the coloring mixture can be easily removed from your skin. If the coloring mixture gets on your ears, hairline, or other parts of your skin besides your scalp, wipe it off immediately with a wet cotton pad. As time passes, the coloring mixture will become harder to wipe off.
  *Remove your glasses, contact lenses, earrings, clip-on earrings, necklaces, and so on.

The steps for coloring hair differs depending on the type of product, so read each instruction leaflet carefully and color your hair using the procedure included on it.

The following are the steps for coloring your hair with a two-agent lotion oxidative hair dye. We have summarized points to note in each step with an illustration to help you achieve a more beautiful result.

• Step 1. Prepare the coloring mixture

  Prepare the coloring mixture immediately before you color your hair. Follow the instruction leaflet of the particular product you are about to use.

  • The coloring mixture should be prepared right before use.
  • Color your hair in a well-ventilated area.
  

• Step 2. Apply to your hair

  In small portions, apply the coloring mixture to your hair so that it does not touch your scalp too much.

  • Be sure to wear the gloves that come with the product.
  • Do not allow the coloring mixture to come into contact with your face or neck. If it does, immediately rinse off the area with water.
  • Do not take a bath while coloring your hair. Do not wet your hair before coloring. There is a risk that the coloring mixture may get into your eyes due to sweat or dripping.
  

• Step 3. Spread the coloring mixture evenly across all of your hair

  Spread the coloring mixture applied across all of your hair so that there are no uneven areas.

  • Be sure to wear the gloves that come with the product.
  • Avoid getting the coloring mixture or the rinse water in your eyes. Getting the coloring mixture in your eyes may cause severe pain, and in some cases may damage your eyes (inflammation of the cornea, etc.). In the unlikely event that it gets into your eyes, do not rub your eyes. Immediately rinse thoroughly with cold or lukewarm water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention from an ophthalmologist. Do not use eye drops at your own discretion.
  

• Step 4. Leave it for a while

  After applying, leave it for the specified amount of time. The time needed depends on each product and the hair coloring conditions such as room temperature. Follow the instruction leaflet for the product you are using.

  • If skin reactions such as a rash, redness, swelling, itching, or strong irritation occur while or after coloring your hair, or if you experience any reactions such as hives, shortness of breath, or dizziness, thoroughly wash off the mixture immediately and seek medical attention.
  

• Step 5. Wash off the coloring mixture

  After the specified amount of time has elapsed, wash off your hair with lukewarm water until you can no longer see the color of the coloring mixture in the rinse water. Be careful not to let it get into your eyes.
  Wash repeatedly with shampoo and finally use a hair rinse. If you are worried about hair damage, use a hair conditioning product.

  

• Step 6. Drying your hair

  Wipe and dry your hair well with a towel that you don’t mind getting dirty.
  If your hair is still wet, the color may transfer to your pillowcase and clothing.

  • If you experience any reactions in the next few days, be sure to consult a doctor.
  

Other warnings and cautions

• If the coloring mixture gets on your clothes, floor, carpet, walls, or sink, it may not come off depending on the material, so be careful.
• Note that color may transfer to clothing, hats, and pillowcases in the following cases:
• When your hair is wet. (when you sweat a lot during exercise, if get wet from rain, or after washing your hair.）
  *If you use a large amount of hair care products such as hair growth agents, styling liquid, and foam styling agents.
• Keep out of reach of young children. It is dangerous if accidentally ingested.
• Keep in a cool place away from direct sunlight.
